The construction of the Avérotoren Leeuwarden has started. Time Equities recently purchased the Avérotoren at 26 Lange Marktstraat in Leeuwarden and will renovate and enhance the sustainability of the second tallest building in the city. The tower will be leased to the UWV on a long-term basis starting in 2022.

The 77 meter high Avérotoren was designed by Bonnema Architects and was partly designed as a vertical counterpart to the office colossus opposite. The facade of the tower is executed as an abstract grid of mirrored glass in frames of black granite. The building is placed slightly through the building line, thereby breaking the Lange Marktstraat. The building was completed in 1991 and has 18 floors. The building was the tallest office building in Leeuwarden until 2002, when the 115-meter-high Achmea Tower was built. Together, the office towers form a landmark townscape.
